“For me Kezox Plus (Ketoconazole 2% and Zinc Pyrithione 1%) worked really well. My dandruffs are gone completely with just 2 washes. Doesn't even reoccur till 2 weeks.”
U/CHOMUYT ↗“Head & Shoulders didn't work for me, neither did the Neutrogena coal tar shampoo, no idea about Nizoral which I assume is similar because I've never seen it in my country. Selsun Green however has worked excellently with a double-shampoo approach, and the mintiness plus the scent of whatever conditioner used afterwards has stopped it smelling sulfuric.”
U/GRENOUILLE_EN_ROSE ↗“Dandruff is an infection on your scalp. You're far better off using a "drying" medicated shampoo for a few weeks than something that won't actually treat your dandruff. A lot of the time what feels like dry hair after using these shampoos is some of the active ingredients in the shampoo sticking to your hair after you rinse -- e.g. antifungals. > I wrap it up in a silk bandana until dry FYI, this (along with not washing enough) is probably why you have an issue with dandruff. You're basically promoting yeast and bacteria growth on your scalp by wrapping your wet hair up.”
