Vibration Plate for Weight Loss
RESEARCH
- Vibration plates improved bone density and muscle performance in older women, but there's no evidence they cause weight loss—the main reason people buy them.
COMMUNITY
- They might help circulation or lymph drainage, but marketing them for weight loss is misleading—the research doesn't back it up.
SAFETYPeople with certain joint or heart conditions should check with a doctor before using vibration plates regularly.

“Vibration plates aren’t for weight loss, they’re for circulation/draining lymphatic fluid build up for people who have that. So they do serve a useful purpose, but marketing them for weight loss has always been a gimmick. Edit to add: draining built up lymph fluids will make you look *slightly* slimmer but only if you had a lot to drain to begin with. The fluids will also just come back which is why people do it often to maintain the less puffy look. But yeah.. if you dont have a lot of build up to begin with then visually you wont look any different”
U/SAIPHXO ↗“No way these are making a comeback lol. Vibration plates are literally a concept from like early 1900's era gyms that stopped existing because they didn't do anything. Glad to hear even snake oil sales are cyclical lmao. Yes it's bullshit. Literally a 100 year old scam.”
U/VERATHA ↗“The one thing they have going for them is that they [may be helpful for shitty circulation](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4560014/). They don’t appear to do much for weight or strength, but I suppose in theory one could argue that an improvement in circulation *might* make a person’s legs hurt less, which *could* make them want to walk more, which would *possibly* lead to weight loss. But should one…?”
